Cookwell & Company Cooking Sauces, Dips and Marinades - Review AND Giveaway! Ends Oct 14th, 13!

Last week I was sent over a box filled with goodies from COOKWELL & COMPANY, which is a fabulous venture started by a few friends who wanted to bring deliciously easy to put together meals to the world, via great sauces (and staple flavors) for the at-home cook without the hassle of starting from absolute scratch and without losing any of that scratch-cooking "umph!"

In fact, the Cookwell & Company website is a great place to pick up delicious 2-step cooking sauces and even dessert sauces alongside delicious quesos, soups, marinades and so much more!

In last weeks package I received a jar of Hatch Verde Tortilla Soup, Red Pepper and Tomato Soup, Queso Con Salsa Escabeche, Bananas Foster Sauce, Texas 2-step Chili Sauce and a 2-step Cacciatore Sauce!

Now, anyone that knows me will know that I love to cook and while I love to cook from scratch I enjoy the ease of use with sauces and marinades that I don't have to put together myself when time if of the essence - such as the past week or so when trying to get my brain around our new baby and juggle the family!

I never know what to expect with sauces that I have never tried before, but always keep an open mind! My first impressions based solely on packaging and names alone made me want to try the products and in particular delve into the soups!

The jars of soups are seriously HUGE and there is enough for a couple of servings per jar and they are really rather generous! The color and flavor of the soups are bold and beautiful alongside being delicious and tasty - you just can't go wrong!

I tried the Hatch Verde Tortilla soup first as I'd never had it before and it went well with some nice, crusty bread and butter. It suited a slightly chillier day when snuggling up to a big bowl of soup is all you can think of and it certainly fills you up and tickles the taste buds!

The Red Pepper and Tomato soup followed another day and, just as the first soup, this one held a bold color and really burst with flavor! Tomato soup has never been one of my favorites but for some reason the moment it becomes a Red Pepper and Tomato soup I am in absolute heaven! I can't get enough of it and, again, these are so easy to use! Just open, heat and serve for a home-made taste that you won't want to see vanish from your bowl quite as quickly as it inevitably does!

I was impressed by the size of the jars of 2-Step sauces, also, which make meals a cinch without losing any of the flavor and the Chili sauce especially allowed me to throw down a large pot of Chili in minutes once my meat was cooked and I was ready to go! Just pour on the sauce, heat and serve on a bed of rice, pasta or even a baked potato - you could even serve in a bowl all of its own and be completely satisfied by a hearty meal!

The Cacciatore sauce is just as delicious and gives a chunky texture and smooth flavor to anything you'd like to put in it! I went with chicken but you can make a vegetable dish with this and be just as happy with the outcome!

The Queso is, again, delicious! Just great with crunchy veggies or chips to dip right in and scoop right on out!! Very creamy, strong flavor and thick - yummy! No complaints here at all!! In fact, this won't last very long in your house if it is anything like ours! It was gone in no time! Big winner!

I have to say that as a big foody, I absolutely adore these products and haven't had a bad experience with any one of them! They are well thought out, flavorful, they look bright and they really do make any meal seem easy and stress free with a click and pour!!

If you would like to check out these items on Cookwell & Company's website, you can find them HERE! With prices in the $5.99 to $7.99 range per jar, you are going to adore these products and you are going to love what you make with them even more! Top notch! Very, very happy!!

Mohawk Rugs Review AND Giveaway (Up to $100 Value!!) - Ends Oct 10th 2013!

I know my life this week has been flipped upside down a little but guys, you HAVE to see this new rug I have from Mohawk!!

It is black with a creamy colored box-line pattern and it measures 8x5 feet to fill up the huge blank space that was once my boring living room!!

It arrived in the mail shortly before I had my son and I wanted to share it with you then, but other things got in the way and NOW I have a moment to clue you in on it AND perhaps even give you a chance to WIN ONE of your very own!!

I have been contemplating introducing my living room carpet to a nice area rug for quite some time now and I couldn't make up my mind about it and so when Mohawk said that they would like to have me look at one of theirs I jumped at the chance and spent forever looking through all of their fabulous rugs until I found this one, which suits our style perfectly!!

The cost of the rug was just a little over $50 and VERY worth the money you'd spend on it as it is both durable and thick but soft and cozy, too!! It has a lot of live and will see a lot of feet in my home and so I needed something that was going to last and I definitely think I have found it here!

The rug has turned my boring old grey carpeted room into a room with a center-point and focus now that it is down and I have actually rearranged my furniture since I turned up on my door-step, too!!

It really, truly opens the room and gives it a much needed lift without having to go too crazy! It also saves the carpet and brings you in to the room without having to redecorate or replace an entire carpeted area!! Marvelous!

My whole family love the look of this particular rug and my daughter LOVES to sleep on it and so I think we have a winner and a keeper here and I couldn't ask for more!!

If you would like to find out more about Mohawk, you can head on over HERE and check out their website for everything from door mats to bathroom rugs and great big area rugs! The prices vary in range but you get what you pay for with quality and they haven't let me down!

My youngest son came home yesterday!
I am SO THRILLED to be getting back to normal!
Thank you so much for all the support! :)

Monday, 23 September 2013

My little man should be home with us tomorrow! He is getting out early! I am SO THRILLED and touching wood to make sure I don't jinx it!

We did all the mom and baby questions tonight, he passed his hearing test and other bits and pieces! The NICU team gave me a cute little spoon gift set for him and said we were welcome to take him home after his last dose of antibiotics tomorrow, which they're moving to 2pm so we can take him tomorrow instead of Wed!

I have so many good things to bring you here this week when we finally get him in and settled! I am looking forward to resuming life as usual!!!

Thank you so much for all the support this week!!

Birth Announcement!

I would like to announce that Bronson Walter was born on Wednesday 18th Sept and weighed in at a whopping 8lb and 14oz! 21.5 inches long! He has dark hair and chubby cheeks and he's adorable but in the NICU for a few days until we can take him home, so being home now without my child is very strange, but roll on bringing him back!!

He was born with a little fluid on his lung and a tiny infection from swallowing said fluid, so they did have him hooked up to all sorts but now he's off most of everything and just taking a little air and his I/V antibiotics (which is the main reason he's still in there!).

Thank you for all your support!!

I can't believe the last 9 months have flown by so quick and here I am waiting for something to happen!!

I am very ready to reclaim my uterus!

Boogie Wipes Review AND Giveaway! (Ends Sept 29th 2013!)

You may have seen my review, also launched today, for Kandoo Flushable Wipes, which are fabulous for potty training your kids and for little messes BUT did you know that Boogie Wipes recently partnered with PampersKandoo!?

As a result, I have been given the chance to review a couple of packs of Boogie Wipes this week as well as the Kandoo Flushable ones and so my household just got even fresher!!

Boogie Wipes are soothing, saline wipes designed by moms for runny noses, which often get red-raw and sore when a little sniffling and a lot of cold come into play and these wipes keep those noses clean and comfy with a moist wipe instead of using coarse tissues!

Available in various different scents in increments of 10, 30 and 45 count packs or 90 count canisters, these are made to be accessible in the home or on the go and so you never have to worry about a runny nose again and no more ouchies with all that rubbing, sniffling and sneezing! Just pull out a wipe, freshen the face and dispose of responsibly!

I found that these were great for us this past week with dirty faces and allergies still in the air with the high humidity and temperatures bumping themselves back up to the 90s for a moment there!

The wipes really are soft and have a nice smell about them and I especially loved the grape! The packaging looks fresh and they are easy to open, close and store away and best kept out of the reach of small children who tend to find wipes fascinating as I mentioned in my previous review!

I found these just as useful on my own face as I did my children's, especially with my own allergies kicking in to give me one last ride before we stumble upon fall! I certainly appreciated the gentleness of the wipes and didn't find them overpowering at all - in fact, I think they will come in very hand during the upcoming flue and cold seasons and I am definitely going to grab myself some more!

If you would like to find out more, and perhaps pick some up for yourselves then you can head on over to the Boogie Wipes website and see what they have to offer, HERE! If you love what you see, then you can also keep up to date with Boogie Wipes on TWITTER and FACEBOOK, too! So why not stop in and say hello!!

How would you like to try these out for yourselves for FREE!? Well, ONE lucky reader is about to be able to do just that with this fabulous giveaway, which will run until Sept 29th, 2013!

ONE winner will win 2 packs of Boogie Wipes (30 count each) in 2 scents of the suppliers choice and will be directly shipped to the winner! Winner will be chosen from the rafflecopter and notified by email so please enter with a valid email address so that we can contact you! You will have 48 hours to claim your prize before it becomes forfeit and a new winner is chosen!

Open to US, Canadian and Australian entrants only, please! 18 or older to win or ask for your parents permission to do so! - Mom's Gone Bronson is not responsible for prize fulfillment.

Please, go ahead and enter via the rafflecopter below, enjoy and GOOD LUCK!

Kandoo Review and Giveaway! Ends Sept 29th 2013!

As we all know, little hands and bodies can get grubby at any moment of the day and I am a mother who will let the kids play in dirt knowing that later on it'll wash off and no harm is done - children need to have fun and I don't mind playing along as long as it is safe and they're not covered in dirt for weeks on end without having a bath, of course!!

Well, I just discovered Kandoo Flushable wipes for the first time, which is funny as I have used a lot of products in my time with the kids but some how never did get around to using Kandoo - even though I certainly knew they were out there!!

This week I was sent [to try] some Kandoo Flushable wipes, which are unscented, and some Kandoo shampoo and conditioner 2-in-11, which I had no clue they sold! Absolutely intrigued, I couldn't wait to try them both!

I, of course, find the wipes useful in potty training but there are so many other uses for little hands and little messes and even spot cleaning crayon off of the wall - yup! That happened to us this week as my 2.5 year old artist decided to create her newest masterpiece in red crayon all along our white walls!! I picked out a wipe from the Kandoo packet and after just a couple of them to hand, the crayon came clean off the wall!

I also tried out the shampoo and conditioner 2-in-1 with my daughter at bath time and she loved the softness and fun of it all! Not one to really love having her hair washed, she played along and helped me pump out the product from its brightly colored green bottle and into my hand! We washed through her hair and rinsed and it took just minutes as per usual and had a pleasant smell!

I let my daughters hair dry naturally and it wound up smooth and soft with no knots or kinks after running a brush through it fairly effortlessly!

I love the design of the packaging for the Kandoo products, which are bright and bold and interesting to little children who are going to use them and put a pop of color into the corner of your bathroom!

There are 42 wipes in the pack I received of the wipes that I received and you really only need to use one or two at a time and if you are going to flush them it is recommended that you not flush them in wads or chunks, just 1 or 2 at a time and not in basement systems with ejector pumps! These wipes are safe for regular systems and septic tanks, though!!

We actually ran through the entire pack of wipes in a week, which was fair and we would probably have a couple left if my daughter had not decided to use the last few, plus the packet, to make a bed and blanket for her pet-shop pets!! I must tell you not to keep these in reach of your children as they are not a toy, but I can't fault a child's imagination at work in this particular instance and found it hard to be mad in this case, although I did let her know that she is NOT to touch - keep these up in the bathroom for use when needed and don't assume little fingers won't get all touchy feely with them! There really is something about a pack of wipes kids seem to love!!

I am very happy with the wipes, the quality, density, durability and application along with the packaging and I am also just as happy with the shampoo and conditioner 2 in 1, which gives out a fun wash from start to finish with its tear-free formula that is just right for everyone -  I would even use it myself if I ran out of my regular brand without any hesitation at all!!

If you like what you see, and want to try out some Kandoo products for yourselves, then this is a giveaway for you!!

Up for grabs is ONE pack of 42 Kandoo Flushable Wipes and ONE bottle of Kandoo hand sanitizer OR Kandoo hand soap (neither of which are featured int his review).

To be in with a chance of winning this Kandoo prize package, all you have to do is enter via the rafflecopter below!!

Open to the U.S and Canada only, please! Must be 18 or older to enter or get your parents permission! Ends Sept 29th 2013 with ONE WINNER who will be notified by email so please sign up with a valid address! Winner will have 48 hours to claim their prize before it becomes forfeit and another winner is chosen! Mom's Gone Bronson is not responsible for the fulfillment of this prize!

Beautiful Bamboo Night Shirt, Bursting with Baby!! (BambooKI Review!)

With just 6 days left until my due date, I have been trying (as I mentioned before in a previous post) to get my bag together for the hospital!

One thing i had yet to put in my bag was a night shirt or a night dress and I actually packed one last time I had a child and wore it through my labor and birth so I didn't have to wear a gown, but this time around I think I am going to wear the gown and then keep the night shirt as a comfortable treat to wear afterwards - especially seeing as the one I have to pack right now is GORGEOUS!

This week I received, via BambooKI, a fabulous Short-Sleeve Betsy Night Shirt, by Bamboo Dreams!

Made from 95% viscose from bamboo and 5% spandex, this night shirt is soft, light and comfortable to wear around the house and to bed! It has a nice stretch to it and even fits neatly over my current baby bump!!

The night shirts come in sizes S, M, L, XL and 2X with 7 different colors to chose from!! I chose the black but would also love to pick up another in the Scarlet! They retail for $55.99 and they are SO worth the money you pay for the product you receive!

The night shirt is elegantly packed and comes inside its own little drawstring bag, which makes it even more special and helps you keep it in tip-top condition!!

The little pouch is definitely accompanying me to the hospital when I get there in the next week or so and I am loving the comfort of this night shirt around the house in the mean time! With the weather turning colder, too, this top is going to come in extremely handy for snuggling up and getting cozy over a good book and a cup of tea!!

But wait! BambooKI do not just offer night shirts, this is just the tip of the iceberg! They have everything you might need from Home and Garden to Clothing and Health and Beauty with Sports equipment and everything in between!!

With quality, better for the environment products and bamboo accessories you really can do your part for the environment with a smile! Just head on over HERE to find out more about BambooKI and then have a look around! You will be pleasantly surprised at what you might find! Why not also head on over to BambooKI's Facebook Page and say hi!!

I just love bamboo products and I know I say it all the time, but I just can't get enough!! Have you had much experience with bamboo products or thoughts on how it is being utilized? I would so love to hear from you!!

Disclosure: I received this night shirt in order to write this review. I was not otherwise monetarily compensated and my opinions are 100% open, honest and my own. Your opinions may differ. Thank you!

Bummis Cloth Diapers! First Look, Review!

As a "been there, done that" mother of 3, with one on the way (any day now!) I have always wondered what it might be like to cloth diaper, but it has been one of those things that I have never gone full-steam ahead with and actually done!

Well, this time around I am looking at all of my viable options for contributing a little less waste to the environment and giving cloth a try! My son will be here sooner than I can imagine and the more I consider cloth, the more it seems like "the right thing to do", even though I am not dead-set against disposables at all, just that I would like to make an effort before I go one way or the other without at least saying I gave it a shot!

Well, to my delight, Bummis sent me over one of their cutest BeautifulBASIC starter packs of pre-fold cloth diapers this past week to have a look at, feel and discover, while waiting for my little guy to arrive!

The BeautifulBASIC packs consist of:
  • 3 Organic, soft, cotton inserts
  • 1 Beautiful, bright colored, waterproof cover

This pack costs around about $20, depending on where you buy them, and you just can't beat the price for 3 diaper changes in a box!! In fact, if you purchase a few of these you could have diaper changes to last you the duration of your child's growth from birth to potty training for a hundred bucks or so and save a small fortune on all those disposable diapers!

When these arrived on my doorstep, I was blown away actually at just how CUTE a diaper could be! I have officially turned into one of "those" mom's who genuinely thinks of a diaper as cute and I am ridiculously excited about putting them on my son! The only draw back I can find with cloth is the up-keep with the washing, which has ALWAYS been my one-and-only concern due to the lack of washer at home, but if i can hand wash an entire family's worth of clothes every week, there is no reason why I can't hand-wash dome pre-fold diapers either and hang them out to dry!

AND, even better than just the diaper cover to brighten up my day, Bummis also included one of heir Best Ever Bibs, which are fabulous, cover-all bibs with a pocket for catching messes to-boot! These bibs can be purchased to match your diapers and are sold separately from the BeautifulBASIC packs, but are just adorable and make any time a bright, bold, colorful time for baby!! You could even mix and match and buy diapers and bibs just for certain occasions and get really creative with it!

It sounds crazy, especially when you think about the function of a diaper, what you need to do to change your baby and what the diaper is actually going to hand to you when you take it off to change it, but yes, I am going to say it, diapering can actually look like a lot of fun AND save you a lot of money!

Changing a cloth diaper doesn't have to take forever, either! Simply keep your pre-folds ready to go and pop them and the waterproof cover on your baby and fasten them closed with the easy-close tabs on the sides just like a disposable diaper! The only extra you'll really have to think about each week, is the extra wash or two you'll have to put on, which is nothing at all if you have access to a machine!

If you would like to find out more about Bummis and what they have to offer, you can find their BeautifulBASIC packs HERE and have a look around their website for more choices, larger packs and great deals while you're visiting their site!

Diapering doesn't HAVE to be expensive, it doesn't HAVE to be boring and you really can save some money and do a little good for the environment while you're doing it! The cost is more effective than  most people seem to think and once you're done with diapering you can pass them along, make a little of your money back or make another mother VERY happy with a gift that will do the same for her for years to come as it will do for you for the duration of your diapering needs!

There is no wrong or right way to diaper, but there are so many options out there that it is always worth giving them a try!! Bummis for me looks so much fun and I can NOT wait to share an update with you when I am able to put my son in these and show them off, so keep your eyes peeled for that post in the coming weeks and we'll let you know our progress and how we're getting along!!

Do you have any experience with cloth diapering?! I would LOVE to hear from you!!

Disclaimer: I was provided with the items you see in the photos for my honest opinion and review, which was not influenced one way or another by those provisions. I was not monetarily compensated for my views. Your views may differ from mine! Thank you!

Necessities at half the cost! Happy happy!

I went a bit nuts on Amazon this month! I love their subscribe and save and the more you add the more of a discount you get when you hit 5 subscribe items so its really addictive to just keep on adding until you get those 5 and then more after for the discount price! I think I ended up with toilet paper, dish soap, hand soap, detergent, clothes stain removal soap, shampoo, conditioner, floss, feminine care products and breast pads, tea and quite a few bags of oatmeal!!

Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it!? But I used a bunch of Amazon codes from various sites this month and paid nothing out of pocket for any of it - but even then, if I had, it was less than $30 worth as it was all discounted and worked out cheaper than in-store AND saved me time and energy having to walk anywhere for it in my condition!!

I can't help but stock up when I see things out there now and I am not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing - right now, I think it must be a good thing to keep yourself stocked with all the necessities, but ask me again when I have a basement full and still have to buy more!!

Just something to consider for the future! You don't always have to run to the store if you think a little ahead and shop around!! I love it!

Disclaimer: I am not in any way associated with Amazon.

It is well past 3am and heading towards 4am at a rapid pace! I am due at the Dr's at 8:15am and am currently wide awake being covered in stickers by my 2 yr old who wanted to get up and play with her littlest pet shop pets!!!

We went to sleep really early last night, which is why she decided that now was the time to get up and GO GO GO! I think we're both going to need a nap or 10 today!!!

On the bright side, she is good company at this time of day, and I can't complain!!

Roll on a quick nap, shower, food and drs!!

I would like to get my feet back, please!

I have 11 days left and my feet are so swollen and I am flitting between bouts of great energy and bouts of just about being able to get out of bed!!

Come on, baby! I would love to meet you, AND get my feet back! I miss normal shoes and would like to throw these man-shoes in the trash! Thank you!

Organic Socks from PACT - Review!

With my 4th child due any day now I am finally getting things together for my hospital stay and trying to figure out what I might actually need, rather than the things the internet thinks I need, and the one thing that keeps popping up (that I keep on forgetting to pack) is BABY SOCKS!

Now, until this weekend I only had ONE pair of socks for baby because every time I walk into a store to pick something new up for him, I would forget!

However! PACT just sent me over 2 packs of their twin sock packs, which are just absolutely adorable and just about to save my little man's feet this Fall!

These socks are not just cute, but they are extremely soft and comfy and not scratchy at all! These particular socks are 75% organic cotton, 24% nylon and 1% elastane! They are made without fertilizers, pesticides, bleaches or sweatshops, even - "no nasty stuff at all!" declare PACT, and I appreciate this sentiment!

In fact, describing themselves as "...a movement disguised as a clothing company", PACT isn't just about clothes at all and the little details make a huge difference all around as each season they release a new set of clothes to the world alongside a new cause to support for that season!

PACT are big on bringing you clothes made using ORGANIC cotton, which makes less of an impact on the environment around us and leaves us a little less attached to pesticides that we really do not need in our clothes or in the ground!

These particular socks are current, fun and fabulous but they are also limited editions, SO! If you want to pick up a pair, now would be the time to head on over and grab them! They are $10.00 per pack of 2 pairs and with each pack you buy over fall you'll be making a small contribution to low-income business-starter entrepreneurs!

I just love the designs on these cuties, they're 4 different patterns of blue, grey and orange and will compliment just about any little outfit! We all know that babies don't need shoes when they're first born and so why not make a statement with the tootsies with a neat pair of these, instead?! You can also pick them up in shades of pinks/purples if you'd prefer a more girly tone, which you can find by heading over HERE!

If you are interested in checking out some good clothing for yourselves, while you're over there, then PACT has something for you, too! They do not just make baby clothes, oh no! They also have a fine array of essentials for men and women and you will not be disappointed!!

To learn more about PACT and just what they stand for, you can pop along to their website and take a look at their "About" page, HERE! You can even check them out on FACEBOOK and TWITTER, too! Why not head on over and say "Hi!"

Have you purchased from PACT in the past or know of similar companies working with, and for the environment around them? Let us know, today! We would love to hear from you!!

Enjoy! - MGB

School Zone Flash Cards and Activity Book Set, Review AND Giveaway!

My daughter is just 2.5 years old but has known how to recognize numbers and letters of the alphabet since she was a year old, and that was not via a lightning bolt or chance!

I have spent many wonderful hours sitting with her over those 2 years or so, reading books and singing songs and basically having fun while gradually incorporating some useful, educational knowledge along the way!

We don't watch too much T.V at home and I do allow her to watch the odd show BUT have always found it easier [and more entertaining] to sit with her one-on-one to help her learn and to build that love of knowledge on a day to day basis!

It is never too early to start the learning process, and it is never too late to introduce something new, and there is no right or wrong way, either! All children learn at the pace that is right for them and most of the time a child's interests can play a huge part in the process! You should never be discouraged if your child doesn't pick up the alphabet right away - they might just be better with numbers or vice versa! It doesn't have to be pushed, rushed or anything else! Just go with the flow and see what happens!

If you are thinking about, or have started to introduce letters, numbers, shapes and more to your child, then I have just the resources you'll need, and love, from School Zone!

School Zone, which can be found HERE, is a large melting pot of educational tools designed to educate and entertain your child both in paper and digital form, with various aids such as work books, activity books, flash cards, software and more to keep you checking in online with rewards codes and incentives!

School Zone recently sent me a 4 pack of flash cards and a 6 pack of activity books to work with my child and I am certainly impressed! The quality of the books and cards are of very good value and made to last! The cards are recommended for ages 3-5 but, again, if your child is ready a little sooner, or not quite there a little after then that is more than fine, too!

The activity books are bright and inviting, which really caught my daughter's attention before we began to look inside them! She is not quite 4, I know, but these books are something we can work on together and work well for her because she is already heading towards that level, which isn't to boast, it is just that she has a love for learning and seems to pick things up a little sooner than both of my boys wanted to, which I can only encourage!

The 6 activity books include crosswords, word searches, puzzles, dot-to-dot, hidden pictures and coloring pads, which allow for thought and hand eye coordination to develop. Sitting with your child and showing them how to hold a pencil and work on a maze isn't "cheating" it is encouraging and teaching them how to do it on their own, so do not panic if they don't get it at first, just persevere and go with the speed that they are comfortable with!

My daughter can hold a pencil well and follow a maze, but would need help recognizing full words and so the word searches for instance would be for a little later in her development so we wouldn't necessarily put those on her to figure out on her own right now, but would work with her to understand the way words work and the concept of the activity until she is ready to try it on her own! Your child might be better with dot-to-dot than coloring or better at coloring than the mazes and so you work with them and see where it takes you without fear! If they can't do it, try a lower level or different activity all together, they might very well surprise you, as they often do!

The flash cards consist of numbers, letters, shapes, colors and an assortment of words to match the pictures on the back or symbols to represent amounts when learning the numbers! They can enable communication with relation to products features in the photos and the words written on the back, letter/word association and visual concepts alongside the verbal.

Personally, I have been flipping through books such as thesauruses and children's dictionaries to get across the letters, words and photos of whatever that word is and this is how she began to learn. The flash cards certainly re-enforce this information and in a shorter, more playful and fun way and enable her to add the lesser known words to her vocabulary and memory!

I have a short film of my daughter going through the ABC set of cards and it should give you an indication of where to start! I try to make it fun for her and never press her if she isn't too sure of the letters in front of her! I will sometimes skip the upper and lower case letters so that she doesn't have to real off the same letter twice in a row and I will alternate on different days to make sure she does associate both cases with the same letters!

You will notice, in the video, that she is happy to play along and sometimes makes out that she doesn't know what the letters are - but she is well aware of her alphabet and likes to make a game out of it and I have to play along! It works both ways if I give a little, she gives a little more and there is no stress here - just fun!

I cannot stress enough how fabulous I think these resources are, and not just because we have them to try! I truly believe that sometimes, when we turn off the TV and just spend a little time with our children we find that they really do soak up the information like a sponge and they retain so much of that!

Not only are we teaching our children, but sometimes we are re-educating ourselves along the way, and we are connecting with each other and allowing us to be O.K with taking that little chunk of time out of our day to spend with these little miracles we brought into the world without sitting in silence in front of a T.V!

I would encourage you to check out School Zone if you would like to know more about these specific flash cards and activity books, but also to get a look-see at the many resources they have for children of all ages and levels! The work books are a wonderful thing to have to keep the mind ticking over holidays and on day-trips and sometimes the best way to learn is when they're just having fun and don't realize the benefits they might be getting from it!

IN FACT! If  you would like to WIN yourself a set of flash cards and activity books, just like the ones featured in this review, then you're in LUCK! Right now! Gardein Meatless Products; Review AND Giveaway! Ends Sept 16th, 2013!

My husband and I are not strict vegetarians but we would prefer not to eat meat rather than eating too much of it and so we tend to stick with many different meat-free alternatives and recently came across a company called Gardein.

Garden + Protein gives Gardein its unique name and their products give you a unique taste of meatless products that EASILY replace any meal you might have considered irreplaceable when using a meat free option!

This past week, the folks over at Gardein were gracious enough to send over a few coupons for some free products so that I could share with you my thoughts on what they had to offer and I had a hard time trying to choose what to share with you all! Eventually I went along with BBQ Skewers, Tuscan Breasts and Herb Dijon Breasts and I am happy to say I was not disappointed with the products I chose!

I really do love a good meat alternative and so I was quite excited to try these and dipped in to the Tuscan Breasts first of all! I whipped up a batch of rice, lightly fried the Tuscan Breasts and added the sauce as recommended! I served the breast simply on top of the rice and VOILA! A quick, no-nonsense light meal!

The breast was tender, tasty and not at all chewy! It did give me the feeling of eating chicken, even though I knew it wasn't chicken at all I don't think I would really have noticed if someone else had made it for me - I would have assumed it was chicken! My 16 year old, who LOVES chicken, tried these and thought they were fabulous, too, so they have a lot of potential to become staples in our household for sure!

I next served up the BBQ Skewers and served these, again, on a bed of rice, but with veggies to the side and salad. They were also very delicious and gave me the feeling you might get when eating actual meat skewers and my husband ate them, too with zero complains! They went over very well and I would most definitely pick these up again!

Lastly, I made the Dijon Breasts, which I absolutely adore, but tried cooking differently compared to the first round of breasts that I had cooked, just to see if it might make any sort difference in presentation or taste!

As it turns out, the difference was minimal, the taste was very much the same (as far as the breasts themselves were concerned) and the sauce was delectable! I loved the tangy flavor and could have eaten these all day, which is just as well they came only in a pack of 2 and not a pack of 12!!

I have to say that I am completely blown away by the quality of each one of these products individually and love the line as a whole and Gardein really has made it to the top of my list of wants [and will-buys] for the future! I think they put a lot of thought and effort into their products and the taste factor is just phenomenal! You HAVE to try at least one of everything if you ever get the time!!

Daiya Dairy-Free Cheese Style Products, Review!

I had the pleasure of trying out some Daiya dairy free "cheese" style products this week and I have to say I was not sure quite what to expect!

For a product that is dairy, lactose, casein, gluten, soy and even cholesterol free, you do have to wonder what might be left and if you're going to enjoy it at all - but you're going to be pleasantly surprised!

A friend told me that these were fabulous and that they melted and became stringy just like cheese and that it worked well! Her excitement sealed the deal for me and so I got more eager by the recommendation and did a further happy dance when I realized it was available right in my local grocery store!

I picked up 2 packages of the mozzarella style shreds and a pack of the cheddar style slices along with the provolone style slices, which I was dying to try as provolone is the cheese I always order on any sub or sandwich and I wanted to put it to the test and compare!

I started out by making some rolls, from scratch and added the provolone style slices on top of cooked eggs in those rolls to make a delicious breakfast! The provolone style slices melted like cheese and it tasted SO GOOD!

I knew these products were not real cheese and so didn't think I had the best view on how these compared as I was knowingly eating them as a cheese style product! SO! I served some to my son and he LOVED them, too! He didn't know they were not cheese at first and after he tried it in a grilled cheese he declared they were AMAZING and then seemed surprised when I told him that they were dairy free cheese style slices in those grilled cheese and he was impressed!

It is a big deal in our house when everyone agrees on a product and I am happy to say that my 2 year old loves these products just as much as the rest of us and I made my husband a pizza using the mozzarella style shreds and he didn't complain at all! This is ALWAYS a fabulous sign that it went over well as if he really didn't like it he wouldn't hesitate to leave it there and  be on his merry way - so far, Daiya is 2 for 2 on the products we had chosen!

Lastly, we used the cheddar cheese style slices for yet more grilled cheese and not a single person in the house turned them down and when they were all gone everyone wanted more! They melt just like real cheese, turn bread into a party in your mouth and really do the trick when a cheese craving comes along!

These cheese style products are designed more for melting than snacking on right out of the fridge but they still taste great when eaten on their own! When they're in something, on something or melted though, they are truly at their best and unless you were clued in on what they were, you would hardly notice a difference at all to real cheese and I just ADORE that!

You really can use all of these products in place of your regular cheese and be completely satisfied! The price for the product seems a little high, but for what you're getting it is relatively fair and worth the swap if you need to avoid cheeses for health issues and need an alternative that tastes as great as the real thing!

I found these at my local Giant, in their specialty and natural foods area and so check those places out for yours if you want to try them out! You can also use the store locator on the Daiya website to fine a store closest to you that stocks them if they're not yet in your local supermarket!

If you would like to learn more about Daiya and what they have to offer, you can head on over HERE and check out their website for products, facts and delicious recipes! You can also find them on Facebook HERE and Twitter HERE! (Hop on over and tell them you said hi!!).

I have really started to open my mind to new products over the last few years and cheese alternatives have always been at the top of my list to try and now I can safely say that I am definitely sold! I would recommend at least giving one or two of the products a try before you decide that nothing beats cheese like the real thing, because I am telling you, these sure do come close!

Have you ever used Daiya or similar products? I would love to hear what you have to say! Let me know in the comments below!

Yves Rocher Hydra Vegetal, Review!

This months Yves Rocher review comes to you with a punch from their increasingly popular Hydra Vegetal line, which I have had the pleasure to try out for some weeks now and I have to tell you I am impressed!

Using the power of Saps from Canadian Maple trees and Blue Agave plants from Mexico, the smooth application of these products leaves your skin hydrated and soft - not greasy or sticky, which is something I usually find disappointing with some other products out there in the world to date!

I had the pleasure of trying out a Moisture Boost Concentrate, Hydrating Day Cream, Fresh Gel for Under-Eye Bags and a Hydrating Micellar Water for Face and Eyes!

Right now, you might be wondering what Hydrating Micellar Water is, and so I want to get to that first! This 2 in 1 light "water" can be used to clean off make up, tone and eliminate dirt and grime without causing dehydration, roughness or tightness of the skin!

Applied to a cotton ball, you wipe your face gentle with the water-like tonic and are left with a fresh, clean feeling and I didn't have any pulling, tugging or dryness after and I was pleasantly surprised!

Next, the Fresh Gel for Under-Eyes is something I love the idea of and I am always willing to try an eye cream or gel! This one is very smooth and light watery-gel like and squeezes out on to a finger tip and pats onto the under-eye area with ease.

I sleep little, run around a lot with my children and always feel as though the bags under my eyes are about to develop a life of their own and so my eyes always feel as though they need a little work! While the darkness never really seems to leave me alone, this gel really did leave me feeling soft and refreshed. This can be used any time of day, especially after cleansing, and so compliments a routine when used with the Hydrating Micellar Water!!

The Moisture Boost Concentrate is an absolute delight and another surprise! Thin, creamy and easy to apply, this formula goes on like silk and soaks into your skin leaving you with an instant boost of hydration! It works fast and cuts to the chase! My favorite of the set and one I feel as though I have to have if I could only pick the one of the line! It does exactly what it says on the bottle!

Lastly, we have the Hydrating Day Cream, which is pretty similar to your regular day cream, but compliments the other products in the Hydra Vegetal line and is a lot thicker than the Moisture Boost Concentrate!

I applied the day cream in the morning after cleansing and after using the eye gel! I certainly felt the quality and thickness of it and worried that it would leave me greasy, as I mentioned before, but it didn't! Other creams I have used during the summer months have left me feeling a little "wet" in the heat as it never seemed to let my skin breathe, but I had no such problems here!

Overall, I am thoroughly delighted with what I have seen and tried and do recommend that you give them a try! I haven't used them singularly, I have used them as a set and they definitely made my skin feel healthy and I felt as though I had a glow!

If you would like to check out the full range of Hydra Vegetal, which is available now, then head on over to Yves Rocher's website for more details and check them out on Facebook, too!

I would love to know what you think!
