Where Did All The Good TV Go?

I am trying to be enthused about the current line-up of shows gracing our screens this year but I am so disappointed! Nothing seems to stick with me other than The Black List and I feel as though we're hitting a wall!!

I loved Big Brother back in the day [when it first came about and presented a new idea and a new viewing experience] but all these years later and there is only so much reality TV I can take!

Whatever happened to originality and creativity? There used to be a time when seasoned actors played out a script and made it their own and had us glued to our sets, suspending our beliefs for a moment, jumping into a world of Maude's and Jack Tripper's for something to lighten the load

Everywhere I look I see a duck hunter or a dance mom or a dancing celebrity competing against a dancing reality TV star trying to be a celebrity - and apparently it really doesn't take THAT much to be a "celebrity" of sorts these days, either - BAM, oops I just became famous for doing just about NOTHING!

Back in the day, you earned your stripes by putting something out there that nobody else was doing, or showed off some skills, but these days you just have to have a few clicks on YouTube or a popular Twitter account and you're away!

Don't get me wrong I am sure there must be something in it for people to keep tuning in - I mean, we all like to see what's going on in other people's lives to some extent but it is getting ridiculous! The truth is, though, reality TV is cost effective and thus, of course, networks LOVE it - and even more so when the show becomes a hit!

I don't want to take your reality TV away, but couldn't we just have ONE channel dedicated to it and be done? Make room for complex shows or fun series we can get into without it being taken off the air before it has a chance to shine?

It boggles my mind to see some of the shows being renewed this year, while other shows with much more potential have had the boot in the past! Take Carnivale for instance; great cast, great sets, great story but left unfinished - what a disappointment! It should never have ended with 2 seasons, that show was worth so much more but in the end I hear it came down to lack of funds for such a great look and no one willing to compromise and so it was done - just a shame!

Once in a rare while something new will pull through and surprise me but rarely am I satisfied with it by the end of its run because writers either jump the shark or have no idea how to draw the line!

Dexter ended terribly, that whole scenario doesn't make any sense (I won't spoil it for you) and Under The Dome felt as though it went absolutely nowhere! Breaking Bad DID manage to pull off a great ending but it is just not enough - with so many failures, what is the motivation to tune in until the show ends and you know and buy the DVDs? Who knows, but we do now have a catch 22 situation where you won't tune in until you can see them all but by not tuning in you might have the show cancelled for ratings, so what can you do??

Someone, somewhere, needs to bring back decent TV! Bring me a slapstick off-the-wall comedy or gritty drama that DOESN'T involve police, fire or rescue! Bring me a show with substance, character and pizzazz and keep me entertained, on the edge of my seat and WANTING to tune in to watch more!

Stop remaking "old" TV, it is still too soon! Stop with the spin offs! Just make ONE good show already and if it works the money will take care of itself!!

For now I can't think of a show I want to see other than Justified when that returns - everything else is up in the air!

Come on guys, where is the next big thing?? It is certainly not on any current schedule!!

Things you no longer do when you have kids...

There are many things you can no longer do when you become a new parent, until you learn to juggle! Here are a few of them:

You can no longer successfully finish an entire cup of tea or coffee before it gets stone cold!

You can no longer take more than a 5 minute shower! When you have your 1st you can bring them in the bathroom or sit them in the crib until you're done, but as they get older they either want to get in the shower with you or stand outside the bathroom banging the door until you let them into the bathroom with you etc...when you have more than one, taking a shower just becomes a circus!

You can no longer hope to pee alone, either!! - That's right, folks! you wait and see how long it takes you to realize "HEY! I haven't pee'd all by myself in X amount of time..."

You no longer carry a sleek purse, you now carry a giant bag second only to that of Mary Poppins! The bag is endless and filled with all the goodies from diapers to wipes and beyond...

You can no longer refuse someone a tissue! As a mother you are bound to have a good stash of tissues in your bag AT ALL TIMES for any occasion - even when your kids are full grown and live in a different state, you'll have the ability to harness this mom power!

You no longer have time to put your hair together as you used to and throwing it up on your head in a pony tail is the epitome of mom fashion!

You no longer care if that shirt you're wearing is clean or not! Heck, may as well not get dressed today! You're only going to get puked on anyway!!

You no longer remember what sleep is, you just look back and remember that once upon a time you used to enjoy it!

You no longer have the ability to remember anyone's name successfully! The more kids you add, the less you remember! Have a kid called Sue? Chances are you're going to call them by every one of your other kids names before you get to Sue!! My mum regularly calls me name is not Laura...

You no longer care about any of the above, you have your kids and they're worth it! ;)

We've moved and settled in nicely...

SO! We finally did it! We moved to! It was a long time coming! I hope you are all still with me!!!

Here is a recent picture of our full-house now since the baby and everything! We are loving our new little guy and we are finally done having babies and getting ready to do all the fun stuff that comes with just happily raising the ones we've got!

Go team!! They really are wonderful, and so are you! Thanks for sticking around!! :)

Spread some love!

Every year in our area there is a Peace and Love march through our city and then there is a celebration in the park with music and food and a few activities like hula hoops, crafts, raiki and so on...also a few tables of clothes and donations to pick up if you need it!

This will be the third year I have attended and it went off without a hitch and the weather was super, which is a fabulous bonus!

There is nothing better than spreading some good will and a little joy around and I do say it every year, especially when it is so easy to be nice to someone and wear a smile once in a while!

I do enjoy seeing so many good people in one place and hold out hope that something sticks from the events every year - even if only one or two more good people emerge on the way, it is always a bonus!

The food was spectacular as usual and the company was great! I even remembered to take my huge bag of clothes down to donate for the kids, too, which I am pleased about as I picked up some cute coats there last year and really wanted to return the favor this go around!

Roll on the next one!

It has been a while since I watched too much TV but I actually started to watch Revolution this week along with Boardwalk Empire and am working on catching the final season of Dexter! - Low and behold The Walking Dead starts up again tonight and i'll have to keep on that, too!! I have also been watching The Black List and that show must be my new favourite and something I love to tune in to each week and so I do hope it continues on the same level and then gets picked up for more!!

I would love to know if there are shows you feel are "must watch" so I can catch up with them as well, but not being a huge TV addict or anything, I am usually the last to know about the good ones, so I do feel pretty on the ball with The Black List right now! I hope you're watching! :)

Gotta Learn to Juggle!

My mother is visiting from England and we haven't seen each other for about 4 years so this past week has flown by!

With the government shutdown there isn't a lot of touristy stuff to do in Philly but I took her to a mall here where we live and introduced her to a cheesesteak and malt shakes!

I think my job here is done!

It is great having her here and sharing all the new baby stuff! I won't know what to do with myself once she's gone! I'll have to start learning to juggle!

Yves Rocher - Flower Party By Night! Review!

Yves Rocher continues to keep me happy this month with FLOWER PARTY  BY NIGHT, which houses a WONDERFUL fragrance resembling light floral, vanilla, sweet tones that you can't help but adore!!

I have the shower gel, lotion and perfume, which comes in a beautiful little deep-blue bottle with a petal shaped lid and looks super on the dresser and wears well!

The scent is long-lasting throughout the day and not too overpowering at all! When used in conjunction with the lotion and gel you just can't go wrong for an all-day scent and touch of confidence!

I apply the lotion after a shower, which allows it to soak into the skin without leaving a greasy film and i'm ready to go! If I want to soften up my hands or anything through the day it is easy to just re-apply a little more without over doing it!

One spray of the perfume here and there is more than adequate to get a feel for the scent to make an impact and I actually like to spray a little on my faux flowers, to give the room a little "umph!", too! Fabulous!

This is such a pretty set, and a good scent, that I think it would make an adorable gift for just about anyone and so it might be worth picking one up for Christmas (I know, but it IS coming!) or to put away for a special occasion! Of course, it never hurts to treat yourself to some, either!

I would call this an every day scent that you could dress up for any special event with ease! I really do love everything about it, except the fact that one day, the bottles will be empty!! That part makes me sad - but there will be more, which you can pick up from the Yves Rocher website, HERE!

I have yet to find a product from Yves Rocher that I didn't like and they truly are on a roll! I look forward to bringing you more form Yves in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled!!

Check out the Flower Party By Night range, today - and let me know what you think!
