Doctor Who, 50th Anniversary Special!

The 50th Anniversary Special of Dr. Who aired this past weekend and I have to say that I was a little bit disappointed with it!

I know it was great to see Billie Piper and David Tennant and I do love Hurt, but the story [to me] felt too predictable and old, even though we've never seen all of these characters interacting with one another quite like this before and so I should have been thrilled.

Something lacked, though. It was almost like they knew what the public wanted and gave them every single cliche they could ever want and over-killed it! How many mentions of "Timey-Whimey" or "Alons-y" do they need to cram into one episode and why keep harping back to the Queen of England! It has been DONE BEFORE!

I, of course, didn't like that Billie Piper and David Tennant had no interaction and I didn't like that the war doctor all of a sudden wasn't a bad guy after all, so apparently now the Dr can do no wrong in the past or present, he always seems to be this eternal do-gooder, which is fine and all, but everyone needs a little darkness in them to even them out and so I didn't really enjoy where that went.

Also, Gallifrey isn't gone, huh? OK. I guess now we see the Dr. isn't the only one of his kind out there necessarily but that, again, seems to take away something fundamental to the Dr. That he was alone.

I can't help but feel like there are a lot of long-lived loose ends being tied up in this episode as well as far too much crowd-pleasing.

Don't get me wrong, though. I did like the episode, but I just felt like it could have been so much more!

I am looking forward to the Christmas special!
