Don't get me wrong, I am not bothered by mice, but they sure do become a problem when they're living in your space, eating holes here and there and partying it up having a jolly old time!
SO! I spoke to my friendly local pest control guy who handed me over a few of the sticky mouse traps, which are cruel and inhumane and get the poor little mice stuck, unable to move and leave them starving to death if they don't gnaw off their own feet trying to escape!
I threw away the sticky traps and got in touch with Victor Pest, who sent out some live traps to help deal with our "problem" and to put those little mice out of the house! A couple of days later the traps were at my door and ready to get to work inside the house!
I have 3 different sets/kinds of traps, one of which can house up to 30 mice! I really hope I don't need to catch that many mice but, I am reassured knowing that I can, if I do! This big trap is called the Tin Cat, which retails for just $17.50 and can be used anywhere in the house, along with the other traps which will catch the odd mouse here and there with a quick flip-shut lid and one which catches a few mice at a time!
Below you can see how easy it is to set up traps like the Tin Cat, with links to other instructional videos via Victor Pest's YouTube channel: HERE!
So many options are available over at the website and I never quite knew how diverse the choice could get with a mouse trap and so I for one am glad to have several in our home right now ready to get to work and catch those clever little toads before they cause mayhem more than we need!
I waited a while before anything happened with the traps - I put them down 2 weeks ago now - but I finally DID catch a mouse just the day before yesterday and a second one that same afternoon! I don't know if there was just something in the air that particular day that the mice were our in pairs, but apparently they had decided that the bait in the traps was tempting enough to give themselves a tasty treat and BAM! There they were for all to see!
I was really surprised to catch 2 mice, but happy that they were caught humanely and then whisked off outside! I am left wondering how many there still might be if there were 2 already in the house - hopefully not THAT many that we'll have to move out and surrender our lease agreement to them!
I am glad to report that since catching those 2 mice this week I haven't yet seen any more around but, of course, it doesn't mean that they are not there!
Thanks to Victor Pest I won't have to worry too much in the short term, though as any intruders are likely to eventually meet their match with a trap currently floating around my home!
I would absolutely recommend giving the humane traps a shot before you head towards the glue, and you really do get your money's worth as the traps are usable time and again! The results speak for themselves, as you can see with my very blurry little mouse friend [pictured to the right], who was so fast I am happy I got to snap a photo of him at all before we escorted him away!
