Almondina® is the inspiring success story of a man whose great loves include both music and wonderful food. For generations his family loved his grandmother Dina’s most secret cookie, which she called Petit Gateau Sec. Yuval Zaliouk, an internationally known symphony conductor and gourmet chef, always had a special place in his heart (and stomach) for this exquisite, crispy wafer with the delicate flavor of roasted almonds and the natural sweetness of plump raisins.
To read more of the story behind the Almondina Brand go here. I was excited when I was offered the chance to do a review for Almondina...I mean I LOVE food so how perfect is it to do a review on some!? The box arrived and I was pretty surprised by how large it was was and how big the samples were. I was sent over a box of 9 samples of the Almondina Brand Biscuits. The flavors were Original, Choconut, Chocolate Cherry, Sesame, Gingerspice, Cinnaroma, & Almonduo (with Pistachios). The Choconut & Chocolate Cherry was a huge success in our household, along with the Cinnaroma! The only one that fared the least was the Gingerspice, but that's only because we aren't big fans of ginger. There are more flavors to choose from on their site. I love them with my coffee in the morning! I usually eat 2 of them, as you can see below, but it is so easy to eat the whole package! Yum!

Epson XP-410 Small-in-One Printer! A MUST-HAVE in Back-to-School Essentials!

I have had a week or so to try out the Epson XP-410 Small-in-One Printer/Scanner and Copier and I can't describe how in awe I am of this machine!

First of all, the Epson XP-410 has some serious style, with its glossy exterior and black finish! It looks great in any space AND you really can place it anywhere within rage of a wireless router as the printer doesn't have to be connected up to your computer with all those crazy wires that are a thing of the past!

The XP-410 Small-in-One Printer/Scanner and Copier has a nice, large, display on the front for easy maneuvering and simple-to-operate actions. You can scan and print straight from the machine and you can print photographs directly from your SD memory card in no time, making this an all around smart machine to consider for school projects and work essentials!

I have to say, I haven't had to scan anything in a long while, but I scanned through my children's certificates that they received from the hospital when they were born, with their footprints on them and I was impressed with the speed that the XP-410 scanned!

I tried to print out some photos and those, too, came out nice, clear and detailed, while printing on selected copy paper, fit for the job! In fact I printed out one of my son's groups of friends and he was happy to have it for his wall! Great quality and would be a wonderful way to gift to relatives or to make your own photo-cards for all occasions!

Another feature that stands out and sways a more positive reaction is the separate ink cartridges for colors! I love that if I run out of one color alone I can just go out and pick up another! I don't have to wait until all colors are depleted and I don't have to fork out a ton of money all at once for ink if I just need a specific color!

This printer looks great, runs fast, can be wired or wireless, prints great photos, scans and copies at a very quick speed and is ideal for everybody in the house! This is a great printer for a teen if you are going to invest in a new one as they return to school this year - their projects, essays and photos of the year as it goes by are going to speak volumes and allow them to give their best - it also looks great and up-to-date for every genre!

I like that it is simple, fresh and clean and that it turns off after a while of inactivity - especially as teens tend to get quite distracted in the middle of something and so might leave it on (ok, I might, too, I do have the memory of a sieve sometimes!) - I should also mention that the Epson XP-410 makes printing straight from your iPad, iPhone or Android tablet a synch with Epson Connect!

I have printed photos, made art projects, scanned AND copied as well as tested out several different sized papers, cards and photo papers for this machine. I have printed in black and white as well as color and the only issue I had was with one photo that printed out in portrait when it was meant to be landscape and that was human error, so that one lands on me!

Some bonus that are useable via the printer interface, without having to set foot near your PC, are templates for lined paper, graph paper, calendars and custom note paper! Perfect for home-schooling, organization, school work in general or something for the office, all right there, with a few clicks of a button!

Available at all good retailers of electronics, and at www.epsonstore.com for around $99.99, this little guy packs a powerful punch and it really does deliver!

For more information, why not head on over to www.epson.com, today and take a quick look at the many features and benefits hidden away in the XP-410 Small-in-One! When you are ready, why not also connect with Epson America on (Facebook.com/EpsonAmerica) and Twitter (@EpsonAmerica) and I am pretty confident that you won't be disappointed! I know I am most certainly the happiest I have been with a printer/scanner/copier in a long while, and so is the rest of our household!

Enjoy!!

*Disclaimer: I was given an Epson XP-410 to try out in return for this review. All opinions are open, honest and my own thoughts and feeling on my own, personal, experience with this particular machine. Your views may differ from mine! Thank you!

Apple Crumble Crisp with Grandmother's Fig Pastry Filling! Yum!

I picked up this jar of Grandma's Fig Pastry Filling, while out shopping a couple of weeks ago and yesterday I felt like making an apple crisp! Usually I put in a little sugar to sweeten the apples but I was out of sugar and decided to use just a couple of spoonfuls of the pastry filling on the apples instead, which turned out to be AMAZING!

I literally just sliced up 4 apples, threw them in a baking dish, mixed in a couple of spoonfuls of the pastry filling and then covered in a crisp/crumble top, which you can make from scratch or buy in a packet from the store!

Throw it in the oven for 20-30 mins at 325-350, or until the apples are soft! The taste was just out of this world and I definitely feel like I hit the jackpot! Everyone loved the apple and fig crumble and I think I see another in the near future!

Mix up your apple pies, crisps and a crumbles this summer - let me know what combinations you love best! You really can use anything! Apple and Strawberry? Apple and Blackcurrant or something completely else? Drop me a line so I can give them a try!

Enjoy!

Piczzle.com Photo Puzzle Look-See!

Here is a very simple, yet cute idea from Piczzle.com - your very own photos turned into great little jigsaw puzzles for the whole family to enjoy!

These come in various sizes from small to large and with variants in puzzle piece amounts, too, to make it easier or harder to solve for the recipient!

As you can see, I had one made, gratis, of my dog, Rozz! I was able to put some text to that effect on the photo, too and here she is in all her glory for my children to put together at their hearts content!

Our particular puzzle has 16 large pieces and comes boxed in a simple little gift box with the image that you are looking to build on the front!

My daughter, who is 3.5yrs old, helped me to find the puzzle pieces and was incredibly excited to see our beloved Rozz form as the photo puzzle was put together!

I am over the moon with the way the puzzle turned out, the picture quality is nice, the presentation is good and I would definitely think about investing in another as a gift for friends or family in the future as a special keepsake.

If you are interested in putting together one of your own for you or for a gift for someone else then why not head on over HERE and have a look at the options and pricing to suit your needs!

These puzzles will last a long while when handled correctly and stored away or put together then framed. As ever, it is good to supervise younger children as they may have other ideas for how to treat your new Piczzle!

Enjoy!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

John Paul Pet Care Gift Pack Giveaway!

The writer of this guest post is a proud mother of two fur babies. They have two dogs, who are both eight. Eldorado, who is a mixed breed of Blue Heeler and Welsh Corgi. They have had her since she was eight weeks old and also, rescued a pure bred Blue Heeler named Boozer, five years ago.

She writes: I am very big on taking care of my dogs the best I can. I don't like just using any product on them because I have noticed that it dries out their skin. My dogs have had issues with "hot spots" in the passed after going into certain lakes.

So, after they got out of the lake the last time they jumped in for a swim, I wanted to get them into the bath to get any kind of parasites washed off them immediately. I decided it was the best time to try the John Paul Oatmeal Shampoo. After a little bit of a struggle with Eldorado (bath time is not her forte) I got her in the tub first. I must say, I started off over all impressed with the scent. It wasn't to overpowering. It was just a nice scent. I also think that the oatmeal helped soften her fur up quite a bit. She has a few patches of more wire hair. After all was said and done, I decided it was doggy spa day. I proceeded to bathe Boozer, but that little ham loves taking baths. He didn't even try to shake out all over me.

My dogs don't typically have problems with gross stuff being stuck in their eyes due to their breed, but they do get fairly gross ears. Typically they don't appreciate when I am trying to clean said ears out. Whether I use liquid or what not in their ears, they both tend to run from me. So, I took out an Ear and Eye wipe. I first let Boozer sniff the wipe. I am pretty sure he thought it was a baby wipe. So he sat down, and I started working on his ears. These wipes take out a lot of grime without putting your pet through any stress at all.

Last, I wanted to brush them out, and make them look fabulous, so I decided to use the conditioning spray. After having a hard time spraying Eldorado, I ended up brushing a lot of loose hair out of her. Afterwards, she looked like she had lost a good ten pounds. Boozer and Eldorado both had a nice shine on their coats for the next week easy. They smelled great.

I love that these products can be bought separately, or in a three pack special right on the website.

Give Thinning Hair a Boost with System Hinoki Hair Care from Hayashi Worldwide! #hinokioil

I have always had a decent head of hair, right up until I had the last of my two children - after which, my hair has started to thin out a little.

We all have issues with some thinning as we get a little older and so I don't know for sure if the thinning is due to the babies or aging but either way it has started to be a little more noticeable (at least to me) especially in the past year.

I jumped at the chance to try out a line of hair care products (containing Pure Hinoki Oil) aptly called System Hinoki, from Hayashi Worldwide and consists of a shampoo, conditioner, Hinoki Plus (leave-in scalp conditioner) and a hair thickener/leave-in body booster.

After following the instructions, religiously for the past few weeks, I am starting to form an opinion of the system and, while it left my hair a little dry when I first switched from my previous brand, I am now starting to get a little better results and hope to bring you a review in another month or two to let you know the full extent of System Hinoki and my personal results, where applicable!

If you are interested in finding out more about System Hinoki in the mean time, then take a look over at their Facebook page HERE and their website HERE!

Check them out, today and I'll see you very soon to let you know how they work for me!

Enjoy!

Give the kids a spoon...

My youngest son is now just shy of 10 months old and he is crawling, pulling up a little, eating and just about feeding himself and sometimes I am asked how that is even possible and sometimes a little skepticism and the magic question; "how?!"

Well, mostly, I just give the kid his spoon and let him get on with it! At the end of the day, if you don't give your child a spoon until they are 4, 10, 25 then how are they going to learn to use one!? It is really that simple - let them try.

Sure, they won't learn to feed themselves without causing a mess or without throwing things on the floor that might be a pain to clean up but every feeding becomes a learning experience and the more they try, the more they learn and the sooner they "get it" - in my experience, anyway!

Any parent who is like me who hands the child the food and pretty much lets them go ahead and eat will know that life gets sticky, gross and a picture in no time, but also that the process is well worth the outcome in most/many cases!

I am not an expert, I can tell you only those things that have worked for us and my 10 month old is happy to eat table food, is learning to use a spoon and takes everything a day at a time - he is strong willed and likes to try and feed himself, which helps a lot and I am happy to try him on new foods, fruits and veggies as they come up with each meal.

If you spoon feed your child for years or never let them try to feed themselves then of course they are going to learn that you feed them and they'll not develop the skills as soon, but that is alright, too! There is no right or wrong way to raise a child as long a they get there in the end and as long as the methods are safe and ethical.

Note: Never hand your children food and leave them along to tend to it themselves. Stay in the room, monitor your child and avoid choking or other accidents that can happen if you leave them to their own devices. They are learning and even if it looks as though they've mastered the arts of eating or drinking etc, you still want to be vigilant.

I would love to hear some success stories with baby-led weaning, self feeding, tips and tricks to teaching your children to adapt to table food and any problems you may have come across that might help other parents! Please feel free to leave me a comment, here or hit the contact us link up the top of the blog and get in touch!

Happy growing!

Freeman Bare Foot Foot Scrub Saves My Day!

I received a coupon, via Influenster, for a FREE Freeman Bare Foot product and finally managed to track some down at Walmart this week - they have been selling out like hot cakes and so they must be popular!

I picked up the Bare Foot Foot Scrub with Tea Tree Oil, in a Dragon Fruit scent - something, which anybody who knows me will know made my day as I LOVE Dragon Fruit to the nth degree!

With the summer heat, long days and all the back and forth on the feet all day long it is always nice to treat your feet to a little extra time, love and affection as they are often one of the things we forget about and one of the most used!

Why not get yourself a nice hot bucket of water and give your  feet a good soak and scrub with this, while watching your favorite movie or even while sitting outside in the nice, warm sunshine!?

It really only takes a few minutes to scrub and rinse but honestly, your feet will thank you for it, just as mine did after walking for hours yesterday and being on my feet the whole day with one thing or another without much of a break in-between - feet soaked and scrubbed and boom! If feet could send thank you notes and flowers I am pretty sure these tootsies would have sent some with bells on!

Why not track some down at a store near you and check out the rest of the Bare Foot line? You never know what you might find!

Did someone say "Pee"?? A story of the surprise potty trainer!

If you are going to potty train your child and aren't quite sure when the "right" time is then my advice to you, after the experience I've had this week is simply to WAIT!

WAIT until the child is good and ready to potty train and they will do it - and again, and again.... My daughter will be 3.5 yrs old next month and she has refused the potty up until now. She also refused cloth diapers up until last week! I did, however, in a moment of awe, get her to wear cloth all last week, which was a huge change and step forward for her and I can't believe she let me put those on her as she considers them to be for babies as those are what my youngest son uses - never quite got there in time for my daughter!

Anyway! She made that HUGE leap to cloth and never looked back! THEN! This week, low and behold, she is using the potty, too! I can barely believe it! I offered it to her the one day and she sat on it and she actually pee'd for the very first time on there, which is something she would never have considered any time in the near or distant past! Once she sat on there and went the one time, she was up and running!

She didn't want to get dressed for the past 2 days and so I have let her wear as little as she wanted as long as we were both on the same page and actually put some clothes on to leave the house! She has been trying out her new big girl undies and she is getting the hang of those and she really seems to get the whole process already and it has only been 2 days - she even climbed up onto the actual toilet and used that, too!

We've gone from a fully diapered kid to an almost fully potty trained one in about 48 hours! It has been an eye-opening revelation of sorts and I am over the moon - as is she! I don't reward for going on the potty but I do praise and now that she has the hang of it I am not making it out to be a huge deal! if she needs to go, she goes and doesn't even tell me most of the time, which is even better! She is not prompted, she just feel the need and off she goes! Sure! There have been a few accidents but all in all, she is suddenly ready and it is working like a charm!

It really seems to be true that children are ready when they are ready, whether that is 2 or 5 or something in between, earlier or later, however they want to go - we all get there eventually so why put any pressure on them, just let them be until they start to show a true interest and you may even be surprised! I still have my daughter in a diaper at night as we are only now just on day 3, but it is going in the right direction and she will probably be completely out of diapers real soon, as long as it all goes to plan!

So take from this what you will and consider that it really is O.K to wait to train! if they aren't ready, don't get stressed or give up too easily but revisit the idea soon and you never know what might happen!

High five!!!

A designer overhaul on your next project, from comfort of your own home, via Roomations!

Have you ever wondered what it might be like to have an interior designer swoop in and overhaul your house or give you a few pointers on where to go with an idea or look? Well, search no further because Roomations is here!

Roomations is a great little tool that allows you to find your style via a brief quiz and then work on overhauling that room you've been thinking about for far too long now, so that it might become a lived-in work of art or a new masterpiece with a little nudge in the right direction!

Just take the aforementioned quiz to figure out your style (mine was Spirited Vogue) and then upload a few pictures and details about the space you wish to transform for tips and advice from a selection of designers - you can choose up to three!

When you get an idea back in board form from the designer/designers you will then choose your preferred suggestion for development into a 3D design board to show you just how your room would look if you were to go with that style! Pretty exciting, huh!? And all from the comfort of your home!

At the end of the process to create the space, you will have all the necessary information and tools to take yourself shopping for the items linked to your specific design. You will know how much they cost, where to find them and so on and you can go ahead and put together a room you are going to cherish and enjoy, all with a little help from your friends at Roomations!

What is even better than someone else giving you a little nudge on the perfect space for you? How about this code: ROOM30 for a 30% discount on your Roomations design package! Sweet!

So! What are you waiting for?! Why put off what you can do today and why not go get inspired at some of the before and after pictures in the gallery, HERE!

Enjoy and go create!

Arm & Hammer Truly Radiant Toothpaste and Spin Brush, Look-See!

Summer is here and, while we search for that perfect summer dress, make up (or look) we often forget about our teeth! A whiter, brighter smile can be the different between looking great and looking spectacularly radiant and that is where Arm & Hammer wants to lend a helping brush!

For a week or two now I have been using Arm & Hammer's Truly Radiant spin brush and toothpaste, to see if it would improve my smile!

My teeth aren't too bad to begin with, but I do drink a lot of tooth staining beverages and had been getting a few spots on my teeth with the toothpaste I had been using, which I wasn't sure was doing the best for me, personally.

I have purchased other Arm & Hammer toothpastes in the past and like the idea of baking soda in the toothpaste for help with the clean as well as the way it tastes - it is certainly a unique taste that is not over-bearing and is comfortable to use.

I think the spin brush is quite powerful for a regular sized battery operated brush, even when compared to the rechargeable toothbrush I had been using prior. It reaches up, in and around the mouth without poking or prodding the gums and I have certainly felt very smooth and clean after brushing!

Here is the breakdown on what exactly this new toothpaste has to offer:
  • Strengthens, Whitens and repairs tooth enamel
  • A combination of ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda, Active Calcium, Fluoride and Peroxide in this unique formula
  • Proven to make teeth look better, clinically
  • Restoration of luster and gloss
  • Tackles stains better than the leading whitening toothpastes (when used as directed for a 5 day period)
After just over a week using Truly Radiant, I can say that I do feel like my mouth is thoroughly clean and looking good! I will continue to use it over the coming weeks and let you know how it goes! So far, so good!

Big thumbs up!
