New Year off to a GREAT Start with Nutrisystem!

Disclaimer: I was provided products in exchange for my honest opinions. Your views may differ to mine. Thank you.

So I am down 37lbs in total on Nutrisystem since I started last year. I am almost halfway to where I would like to be to hit a new goal (which in total would be a nice 80lbs loss).

Nutrisystem pancakes with (added) berries.

I am noticing so much more energy and general happiness right now that I know I have gotten over this hump that I had over the holiday season.

I have been exercising while watching Netflix, so killing two birds with one stone and somehow justifying my unhealthy relationship this past week (*cough* or two) with Prison Break!

I tried out the chicken and bbq beans this week - something I never had gotten around to trying until now - and it was actually great. I don't know why I would expect anything less at this point, I haven't been disappointed by anything lately, at all.

A side salad goes well with all Nutrisystem lunches or dinners!

I was thinking about something, actually, that I thought I might talk a little about this week and that is how you cook your food with Nutrisystem. I personally do not own a microwave, haven't for quite some years (by choice) and I have experimented with ways to cook the Nutrisystem food to suit the meal.

I have found that just about everything can be cooked in the oven on a cookie sheet or baking tray and turns out great if you just keep your eye on the timing and make sure the food is hot throughout. You can also utilize a toaster for the pancakes, waffles and sometimes the morning muffins as well and so there are plenty of food items to choose from even if you are sand microwave.

If you like the frozen meals, I like to either put those in a pan with a lid on and slowly cook to defrost and then cook all the way through, or place in an oven proof dish and keep an eye on the food in the oven.

Some foods like the baked oatmeal can prove a little trickier but if you take it out of the packaging and, again, place in an over proof dish or bowl, then you should be just fine. Some foods are just easier to warm in the microwave, so I do now tend to avoid the ones that are a little more hassle, but almost everything can be worked with and so fear not, good readers, there is always a way!

This week my favorite meal has been the Three Cheese Chicken, which I just cover in boiling water and let stand long enough to soften the noodles and cook through. My failure this week was the apple pie i put in the oven and then completely forgot about and subsequently charred the bottom of! Fear not though, it still tasted good as half a pie, even if I had to eat it with a sad face that I didn't get the other half!

I have been really pushing my water and really trying to get in all the calories I am allowed and so many veggies that I feel like I am constantly eating - even with a late night snack my habits have changed and point me in the direction of some delicious celery and tomato, which is my go-to filler for the times I feel like I want to snack but don't want to eat a dozen donuts.

Hats off to everyone trying to lose weight, right now, no matter how you are tying to do it. Take every day at a time and see where it goes. This is the first time I've been able to stick to something for years because Nutrisystem actually lets you know hey, you need X, Y or Z and you get used to preparing meals as you use up your flex days with lunch or dinner to get the whole thing right. I definitely feel like I know what I should be reaching for now and not just making it up as I go along.

It is not easy to shift pounds, even if you are the healthiest snacker in the world, but we can all get there! Let me know how you are getting along, either in the comments or via direct mail!

Good luck, and much love!

Ovation Brands, Paddington Giveaway! Ends Jan 31st, 2017

Disclaimer: I was provided with product in order to fully appreciate and give an opinion of it. All thoughts are my own and your views may differ to mine. Thank you.

Ovation Brand's chain of eateries, which include: Old Country Buffet, Hometown Buffet, Country Buffet, Ryan's and Furr's Fresh Buffet are at it again with a great Family Night promotional series featuring Paddington bear for a "Beary Great" time.

Family Night's occur on Thursdays between 5pm and 8pm and allow kids to participate in fun/educational activities. The dates thus far for the most current event series are as follows:

●       January 12 – Please Look After this Bear

●       January 19 – History of Teddy Bears

●       January 26 – BYOB, Bring Your own Bear

●       February 2 – All Aboard! From Peru to Paddington Station

●       February 9 – Letters to Aunt Lucy

●       February 16 – Dogs Must be Carried

As part of this event, I was lucky enough to get to see the Paddington movie on DVD, which was so emotional for me because I grew up with Paddington Bear and used to collect all manner of toys, pictures and artifacts relating to that lovable bear.

As a true fan, I can definitely say that I loved this movie and wasn't disappointed, at all. I think they did a wonderful job of recreating a real-world Paddington movie and they got the casting just perfectly right and lovely. The fun comes with the little hap-hazzardly bear, who still loves a marmalade sandwich to get him through any emergency and he's always trying to get himself out of a sticky spot that perhaps he never quite realizes he's getting into before it is too late.

The movie is fun, quirky and a great watch for the entire family - even my younger childen sat the whole way through and adored this wonderful little bear.

I am 100% into this series for Ovation Brands and think it might be my favorite one yet. To celebrate the series Ovation Brands wants to offer one of my readers a copy of Paddington on DVD, a Paddington plush bear and 4 complimentary meal tickets for any of the Ovation Brand's eateries.

Nutrisystem in the house!

Disclaimer: I was provided with products in order to give my own opinion. Your views may differ to mine. Thank you.

I received my new shipment of Nutrisystem this week and I suddenly remembered to let you know to make SPACE for all your food, of which there is a LOT.

I ordered a lot of shelf stable food this time around and not so much for the freezer as I had just been grocery shopping for the rest of the family and so wanted to make sure I had room.

When my box of shelf stable food arrived, I suddenly remembered that I hadn't cleaned out space because I was SO used to getting frozen foods instead.

A day later and I still hadn't sorted out this issue and the box of food sat on my table.

A day after that, I finally rearranged my cabinets and got all the food in (and on top of) them and bobs your mothers brother, we are ready to go!

Today I celebrated over a nice and delicious Loaded Potato lunch and then enjoyed a great little Nutrisystem pizza for dinner, with a side of veg. GREAT!

I have a couple of items this month that I still haven't tried yet and so I can't wait to share those with you as I give them a go. So far, so good and only 1 meal I've ever disliked, so this has really been a winner for me and I say that with much sincerity.

I can't wait to see where 2017 takes me.

Until next week...

Nutrisystem for the New Year!

Disclaimer: I was provided with products in order to give my honest opinions. Your views and experiences might differ to mine. Thank you!

The New Year is here and, while the end of 2016 was rocky (at best) it is never too late to start making changes to get things going in the right direction.

I started with Nutrisystem in 2016 and have so far lost about 1/3 of the weight I would like to lose and there is still a road ahead that I am still happy to travel.

My tight pants I bought in July are now getting baggy!
Life isn't always good, and sometimes it can get really tough to focus on food, so when I lost my grandfather (at the end of last year) and then had holidays, food and drink to contend with, while  being so far from friends and family, it was a little bit rough and I did slip a little (though not as much as I could have, thank goodness).

Overall, though, I am proud that I stuck to Nutrisystem for the most part - I ate a bigger Christmas dinner than I was planning on and I have indulged a bit here and there and with everything else that was going on, didn't really mind, when I probably should have made some better decisions.

NS Turkey and Stuffing with (added) Green Beans.
That all being said, I only gained 2lbs over Christmas and that is actually pretty decent! I would like to have not gained, at all, but I can't blame anyone but myself because it wasn't anyone else's fault that I got lazy and also ate a bit more than I should have while I was feeling pretty crappy about life, but is definitely on me and I can turn that around.

I have been sticking to my Nutrisystem breakfasts and I have enjoyed my lunches and dinners, too, and a Nutrisystem dinner was even on the menu for New Year's Eve. - I even went to bed early and would have completely missed 2017 rolling in if it wasn't for all the fireworks that woke me up in the middle of the night!

This cold air is making it easy for me to make excuses not to exercise but I just picked up some new DVDs to get me moving at home - zero excuses! Time to go!

Salisbury Steak with Mac'N'Cheese with (added) Spinach and Peppers.
One question that some people do ask me is "are you not bored of this yet?" and the answer really is "NO, I'm not". I actually have been able to figure out which foods I prefer as time goes on and have planned my menu to suit that. There are so many choices that it is easy to pick and choose and I really enjoy making the meals I make for myself a couple of times a week, too. It has been so much easier to stick to than anything else i've tried in the past - anything else and i'd have been completely done by now, so I am definitely happy.

2017 is going to be my year. No one else is going to be responsible for me. It can be your year too!

Let's get eating, and moving!

Stylish Kitchen Accessories from Trudeau #MGBHGG

Disclaimer: I was provided with products in exchange for my honest views. Your opinions may differ to mine, thank you!

Trudeau is one of my favorite companies for kitchen supplies, gadgets and goodies for any person who loves to cook, bake, entertain and more - you name it, they seem to have it and in some of the best and delightful colors imaginable that you don't really seem to see anywhere else.

I had the pleasure to try out a new bottle opener, a fun wine saver, some awesome little chocolate containers that help to make look-alike Reece's and such, plus so much more.

I cook and bake, a lot. Probably more than humanly necessary, so one of the things I can definitely appreciate is a set of measuring cups. The thing I love about these ones, though, is that they come with a clip at the top so you can take them apart and use them one by one without having to bumble about with the whole stack if you don't want to. They are nice to grip, colorful and easy to store away. If you are in the kitchen a lot, you will love these.

Then this wine saver is the best - I always just used one of the cork-style ones that you just pop in, but this one lets you pull the air out of the wine before you close it, which makes it fresher and saves it a lot better for a lot longer so I can definitely appreciate this, too! I don't drink so much wine, now, but if you like a glass and don't want to drink an entire bottle or waste the rest of the bottle, then this nifty little device is most definitely for you!

As a tea drinker, I love this steeper, too. It is cute and functional and I'm happy to leave it out on the side on a little drip catcher. Actually quite funny how many people's eyes catch it when they come over for a cup of tea/coffee. A cute little conversation starter, for sure.

Trudeau just puts emphasis on stylish accessories and honestly it makes such a difference when you have products that look and feel as good as these do - they brighten up your kitchen and serve a purpose. I could easily fill up a basket with Trudeau and gift them for any occasion - not just the holidays, but as a treat to myself, a moving in present for a new neighbor, a going away present for a neighbor who is off to a new home, etc. The cook in your life will love them all year around.

To check out some of their other items in their extensive inventory, head on over to the Trudeau website, here, and see what goodies you can find! Also, catch them on social media HERE, too.

Happy home-making!
