New Year off to a GREAT Start with Nutrisystem!

So I am down 37lbs in total on Nutrisystem since I started last year. I am almost halfway to where I would like to be to hit a new goal (which in total would be a nice 80lbs loss).

I am noticing so much more energy and general happiness right now that I know I have gotten over this hump that I had over the holiday season.

I have been exercising while watching Netflix, so killing two birds with one stone and somehow justifying my unhealthy relationship this past week (*cough* or two) with Prison Break!

I tried out the chicken and bbq beans this week - something I never had gotten around to trying until now - and it was actually great. I don't know why I would expect anything less at this point, I haven't been disappointed by anything lately, at all.

A side salad goes well with all Nutrisystem lunches or dinners!

I was thinking about something, actually, that I thought I might talk a little about this week and that is how you cook your food with Nutrisystem. I personally do not own a microwave, haven't for quite some years (by choice) and I have experimented with ways to cook the Nutrisystem food to suit the meal.

I have found that just about everything can be cooked in the oven on a cookie sheet or baking tray and turns out great if you just keep your eye on the timing and make sure the food is hot throughout. You can also utilize a toaster for the pancakes, waffles and sometimes the morning muffins as well and so there are plenty of food items to choose from even if you are sand microwave.

If you like the frozen meals, I like to either put those in a pan with a lid on and slowly cook to defrost and then cook all the way through, or place in an oven proof dish and keep an eye on the food in the oven.


Some foods like the baked oatmeal can prove a little trickier but if you take it out of the packaging and, again, place in an over proof dish or bowl, then you should be just fine. Some foods are just easier to warm in the microwave, so I do now tend to avoid the ones that are a little more hassle, but almost everything can be worked with and so fear not, good readers, there is always a way!

This week my favorite meal has been the Three Cheese Chicken, which I just cover in boiling water and let stand long enough to soften the noodles and cook through. My failure this week was the apple pie i put in the oven and then completely forgot about and subsequently charred the bottom of! Fear not though, it still tasted good as half a pie, even if I had to eat it with a sad face that I didn't get the other half!

I have been really pushing my water and really trying to get in all the calories I am allowed and so many veggies that I feel like I am constantly eating - even with a late night snack my habits have changed and point me in the direction of some delicious celery and tomato, which is my go-to filler for the times I feel like I want to snack but don't want to eat a dozen donuts.


Hats off to everyone trying to lose weight, right now, no matter how you are tying to do it. Take every day at a time and see where it goes. This is the first time I've been able to stick to something for years because Nutrisystem actually lets you know hey, you need X, Y or Z and you get used to preparing meals as you use up your flex days with lunch or dinner to get the whole thing right. I definitely feel like I know what I should be reaching for now and not just making it up as I go along.

It is not easy to shift pounds, even if you are the healthiest snacker in the world, but we can all get there! Let me know how you are getting along, either in the comments or via direct mail!
